LANSDALE >> The borough’s downtown is now ready for the crowds.

Borough residents gathered several bags of trash from up and down Main Street during a cleanup event Wednesday night, ahead of the town’s hosting First Friday festivities for the first time since 2019.

“Thank you everyone for another successful clean up to help make our town shine! Thanks to you we’re now cleaner, safer, and ready for First Friday fun,” said councilman BJ Breish.

July 2’s First Friday theme will be “a celebration of America,” and all who attend are encouraged to wear red, white and blue. The night will feature live music on Wood Street, a beer garden on Susquehanna Street, DJs at Susquehanna and at Railroad Plaza, along with axe throwing, balloon making, face painting, food trucks, and more. Events begin at 6 p.m.

Borough nonprofit Discover Lansdale organizes and oversees the First Fridays, and has announced a food truck, art and music festival for First Friday on Aug. 6, a chili cookoff and football kickoff on Sept. 3, and a Zombie Walk, with hundreds of costumed zombies walking up and down Main Street, on Oct. 1.

Wednesday night’s cleanup was organized by the “Friends of Lansdale Parks” volunteer group, which has also organized numerous cleanup events in various borough parks in recent years.
