$5M in grants allocated for nonprofits
NORRISTOWN >> Montgomery County officials dedicated another $5 million to assist nonprofit organizations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic through the MontcoStrong 2021 NonProfit Resiliency Grant Program.
Dave Zellers, director of the Montgomery County Commerce Department, addressed the trio of Montgomery County Commissioners during last week’s board meeting, concerning a resolution to transfer “up to $5 million” from the county’s redevelopment authority for the purposes of providing financial relief to agencies that “have experienced disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Earlier this year, Zellers said that roughly $4 million in 165 grants have been administered to nonprofit organizations. The program was initially established in September 2020.
According to the program’s website, the following items are required for eligibility:
• 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) entity with a stated mission and engaged in work focused on one or more of the following: food, health, and/or housing insecurity services; childcare/educational services; mental health and wellness services; elder and/or vulnerable population services; environmental stewardship; arts and cultural enrichment; community, economic, and/or workforce development services and support
• 501(c)(6) entity identifying as a Chamber of Commerce
• 501(c)(19) entity providing support to veterans in Montgomery County
The application window will be open from noon on July 19 to noon on Aug. 10, according to the resolution.

In other business, the county commissioners allocated more than $87,000 in contract awards and amendments related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
A $27,358.23 agreement with Cofco, of Philadelphia, covered “furniture for the pretrial services office at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility,” located at 60 Eagleville Road in Eagleville.
The furniture was made available by way of a contract from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s cooperative purchasing program.
A $23,786.40 agreement with CDW Government, of Chicago, provided “55 Cisco WebEx meeting licenses” software for the Montgomery County Department of Information and Technology Solutions.
An agreement established with Johnson Controls-York Service, of Horsham, to provide a “chiller [and] cooling tower maintenance at the King of Prussia and Montgomery Mall vaccination sites,” was revised to cover “additional services at both sites to make [the] HVAC systems operational.”
According to the contract, $16,506 was needed for the amendment, which brings the total value to $137,921.
Additionally, a previously approved contract with RSM US LLP, of Philadelphia, required another $19,375 for “110.5 hours of support service” in order to continue the “implementation of a disease and outbreak management system.” The revised figure now stands at $131,957.50.
