Grab a bite on a budget at a number of local eateries during Ambler Restaurant Week, next week, starting Monday, July 26 through Monday, Aug. 2.
Participating establishments will offer a prix fixe menu or food and drink specials, according to Ambler Main Street Manager Elizabeth Wahl Kunzier.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought its own challenges to the downtown borough over the past year-and-ahalf. Modified restaurant weekends were to accommodate restrictions, but a more traditional restaurant week took place in February, according to Wahl Kunzier.
As cases of COVID declined and restrictions were eased, restaurants are back to serving indoors at full capacity. She added there will also be outdoor dining opportunities.
Wahl Kunzier expected there to be a good turnout from area residents and surrounding communities. Along with area residents, Wahl Kunzier said she expects people from surrounding communities to partake in next week’s event, as well as patronize the borough’s shops and restaurants.
“We’re pulling from all over the Delaware Valley,” she said.
Adding that an event like this will help spotlight local establishments, she hopes people will stroll down Butler Avenue, patronizing the borough’s shops and restaurants.
“I think the restaurants still need our support,” she said. “It’s really been tough for them coming out of this pandemic.”
For some restaurants that are still struggling with staffing, Wahl Kunzier urged patrons to have patience.
“Everyone just needs to be patient, and understand that every restaurant, every business, is trying to do their best in the unusual circumstances that really none of us has ever had to live through,” she said. “So I just hope that the general public will be calm and patient with everyone and know everyone is doing their best and trying to get back to normal.”
However, Wahl Kunzier encouraged those interested in dining out next week to call ahead of time.
“It’s been rough to get a reservation in town, without restaurant week,” she said. “I’d say take advantage of the during-the-week specials, and if you’re looking to go out on the weekend, make your reservation early.”
