O’Donnell 4 goals lead NP field hockey to 6th straight win

NORTH PENN 7, CR NORTH 0 » Riley O’Donnell had four goals — three in the first half — while Bella Sparango scored twice as North Penn rolled to its sixth win in a row Wednesday.

O’Donnell struck for the opening goal at 7:00 in the first quarter with Sparango scoring 21 seconds later. O’Donnell’s goal at 13:39 in the second quarter made it 3-0 at halftime.

Goals by Riley O’Donnell — off a Maddie Waldspurger assist — and Erin O’Donnell had the Knights (9-3-0, 7-3-0 SOL Colonial) up 5-0 after three with Sparango and Riley O’Donnell adding two more in the fourth.

NP goalie Kiera Holt made two saves.

SPRINGFIELD (M) 4, HATBORO-HORSHAM 0 » Annie Coll had a goal and assist as Springfield blanked Hatboro-Horsham for its second straight win.

Anna Jablokov scored the only goal before halftime in the first quarter while Cole put the Spartans (8-3-0, 7-2-0 SOL Freedom) up 2-0 in the third off an assist from Hailey Lesniak. In the fourth, Coll had the help on an Emma Yoder tally with Malayna Flowers adding the final goal.

Goalie Raven Hiller made 28 saves for HatboroHorsham (1-10-0, 1-9-0 SOL Liberty).

ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 3, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 0 » Sienna Golden scored twice, Cate McConaghy had a goal and an assist and Archbishop Carroll shut out Archbishop Wood to stay undefeated in the PCL.

Golden scored in the game’s first minute while McConaghy made it 2-0 in the second quarter then assisted on Golden’s second goal in the third.

Reilly McMenamin made one save for Carroll (8-3-0, 5-0-0 league). Wood keeper Abigail Kearney had 11 saves.

DOCK 4, JENKINTOWN 2 » Dock Mennonite doubled up Jenkintown to earn a BAL victory.

GMA 1, MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 0 » The matchup between Catholic Academies rivals was settled in the final minute of regulation as Hannah Griffin scored on a free kick to give Gwynedd Mercy the victory.

Goalkeeper Ellie Verrill made three saves to earn the shutout for the Monarchs. Mount keeper Sam Ammons stopped five shots. GMA outshot the Magic 14-4 and had an 8-1 edge in corners.

UPPER MORELAND 2, PW 0 »

Willow Taylor scored a goal in each half and Upper Moreland shut out Plymouth Whitemarsh to end a threegame losing skid.

Taylor tallied her first goal at 29:22 on an assist from Mallory Roedig then after the break made it 2-0 at 45:05 off a Kyra Favors assist.

Goalie Natalie Walton made six saves for Upper Moreland (6-4-1, 5-4-1 SOL Freedom). For PW (5-60, 4-6-0 SOL Liberty), the loss ended the Colonials’ win streak at five.

CR SOUTH 2, SOUDERTON 0 »

Souderton got solid defensive play in the second half from Maggie Fisher, Alexis Stefanowicz, Abby Kolb and Natalie Rankin but the Indians were shut out in the SOL crossover and fell to 2-9-1 (1-8-1 SOL Colonial).

ABINGTON 4, WILLIAM TENNENT 1 » Maura Day recorded a hat trick, scoring Abington’s first two goals on Senior Night as the Galloping Ghosts extended their winning streak to nine.

Day struck on a free kick then scored her second off an assist from Piper McGiven. Carley Slavin had the third goal for Abington (102-0, 9-1-0 SOL Liberty) with Lanae Wilson-Mattison collected the assist. Day completed her hat trick with the help of a Maddie Egan assist.

WISSAHICKON 5, NEW HOPESOLEBURY 0 » Andrew Slackman scored twice and also collected an assist as Wissahickon claimed an SOL crossover shutout win.

Ziggy Macfarlene and Michael Om both had goals for the Trojans (6-51, 6-4-0 SOL Liberty), who have won two straight and five of their last six. Julian Memis, Nathan D’Aquanno and Phil Dias each had an assist.

Wiss goalies Aidtya Shah and Joey Connolly combined for two saves while Kyle Campbell had five saves for New Hope-Solebury (1-10-0, 1-8-0 SOL Freedom).

SPRINGFIELD (M) 4, HATBORO-HORSHAM 1 » Riley Martin and Peter Schmidt led Springfield to an SOL crossover victory, Martin finished with two goals and an assist while Schmidt scored once and had two assists as the Spartans stopped a two-game skid.

Schmidt assisted both Martin goals while Martin had the helper on a goal from Grant Williams.

Springfield (6-3-1, 5-3-1 SOL Freedom) led 2-1 at halftime. Hatboro-Horsham (7-5-0, 6-4-0 SOL Liberty), which dropped its third straight, scored on an own goal.

CR SOUTH 2, SOUDERTON 1 » Nolan Hughes scored for Souderton in the 48th minute off a Dillon Barbieri assist but the Indians had their five-game win streak stopped by visiting Council Rock South.

Goalie Aidan McClure made seven saves for Souderton (7-2-2, 5-2-2 SOL Colonial). CR South (7-5-0, 5-5-0 SOL Patriot), which snapped a two-game skid, led 1-0 at halftime.

DOCK 7, COLLEGIUM CHARTER 1 » Micah Mast had a hat trick, Trevor Ridge scored twice and Dock Mennonite rolled to a BAL victory over Collegium Charter.

Zach Frederick had a pair of assists for the Pioneers (6-2-3), who led 5-0 at halftime. Nate Lacher added a goal while John O’Donnell and Nolan Vaszily each had an assist. Dock goalie Brayden Kratz made a save on a penalty kick.

Ridge scored the Pioneers’ first two goals. Gillespie made it 3-0 at 27:39 while Mast found the back of the net at 36:26 and 36:50. Dock tacked on two more after the break – Lacher at 49:47 and Mast for his third at 63:08.

PJP II 3, UPPER MERION 0 » Upper Merion’s Sophia Schweikert finished with nine kills as the Vikings fell to visiting Pope John Paul II 25-14, 25-15, 25-20 in their PAC Frontier Division match.

Vanessa Hutchinson had 19 digs for UM while Raven Albrecht and Caitlyn Daywalt shared 21 assists. SPRING-FORD 3, METHACTON 1 » Methacton won the opening set but Spring-Ford proceeded to take the next three to beat the Warriors 23-25, 25-15, 25-11, 25-17 in the PAC Liberty match.

Spring-Ford’s Ally Plitnick had 27 assists, nine kills and 14 digs, Camryn Elsner made 30 digs while Faith Hudon had 20 digs. Sara Fritzinger had 12 kills for the Rams while Lauren Angelucci put down nine kills and Kylie Michal collected six kills and five blocks.

WISSAHICKON 27, ABINGTON 28 » Wissahickon had the top two finishers to edge Abington in the SOL Liberty dual meet, Leah Durbin taking fist in 20:45 with Mila Jovanovic second at 21:04.

Gianna Mars paced the Galloping Ghosts, placing third at 21:37.

Boys Cross Country

METHACTON 19, SPRINGFORD 38 » Methacton’s Vaughn Lackman finished first in a time of 16:29 as the Warriors claimed the win in the PAC Liberty dual meet.

Chris McGlynn (16:33) and Brian Landsberg (16:34) took second and third, respectively for Methacton. Spring-Ford’s Quinn Smith was fourth in 16:40.
