Souderton school board election is critical
Over the last year we have seen upheaval at school boards across America.
Diversity used to mean that we celebrate people from every culture and ethnic background and seek to have as diverse a teacher base as possible. Now, however, if a district does not hold a certain percentage of African American and Latin American teachers, that district is called racist for not being diverse enough. Equity used to mean that we provide every child, no matter the color of their skin, with the full supports they need to succeed in life — equal opportunity for all!
Now, however, if we don’t have equal outcomes for all minority students, then the district must implement costly equity audits and implicit bias trainings to educate white staff on how lower test scores are a result of their bias and micro-aggressions against minority students. Inclusion used to largely mean reaching out to the special needs community to bring them into neuro-typical classrooms and interactions with their peers. Now, however, if teachers are not teaching gender fluidity and the use of ever-changing pronouns in classrooms, then districts are no longer seen as inclusive enough.
And that is why the November 2nd election is so very important for all school boards throughout Montgomery County. On one side of the ticket you have the DEI/CRT programs and increased taxes to fund equity audits and implicit bias trainings; and on the other side of the ticket you have support for everyu child no matter the color of their skin, the presentation of real American history without the current political bias or narrative, and children thriving who are encouraged to see character instead of color.
The group claiming to run for “responsible leadership” feel that the Montco Department of Health should make the medical decisions for your child, not you. They also talk about “fiscal responsibility”. Did they miss that our board is so acclaimed for fiscal management that Harrisburg would like to patent their school budgeting techniques to educate school boards across PA? Possibly by “fiscal responsibility” this group meant that they would like to raise taxes to fund the DEI Program?
Our Souderton School Board has been fighting hard to keep Critical Race Theory (CRT) out of our schools. They have been working hard to ensure accurate teaching of American history that also raises proud Americans. They support academic excellence, opportunities, and supports for every child, no matter the color of their skin. Our school district is the only district in Montgomery County that opened our schools last year to provide full-time, in-person education K-12 for the entire school year 20202021!
And Souderton has been the most fiscally responsible school district in our county while maintaining one of the lowest tax increases countywide for the past seven years, without sacrificing in education, technology, or facility upgrades. Souderton School District listens to parents, teachers, and community members, and always puts kids first.
