Ways to help Ukraine in Montgomery County

Local fundraisin­g campaigns, collection drives

Montgomery County-based organizati­ons and churches are offering ways local residents can do their part to help the people in war-torn Ukraine.

• The United Ukrainian American Relief Committee Inc. has launched an online fundraisin­g campaign where 2,700 people have donated $339,548 to the “Humanitari­an aid to victims of war in Ukraine.” Those interested in contributi­ng can also mail a check to United Ukrainian American Relief Committee Inc., 1206Cottma­n Ave., Philadelph­ia, PA 19111. “Humanitari­an aid — War in Ukraine” should be included in the check’s memo section. • The Ukrainian American Sport Center, Horsham, has partnered with the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee Inc. in fundraisin­g, according to Eugene Luciw, president of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America’s Philadelph­ia branch and director of external relations with the Ukrainian American Sports Center. • Presentati­on of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church, located at 1564 Allentown Road in Lansdale, is partnering with the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee Inc. to collect specific needed items to be sent to the refugees of Ukraine. A second collection drive will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 19 at the church.

Items are also being collected for the church drive at the Hatfield Township building, 1950 School Road, Hatfield, from March 14 -18, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday. Items needed include medical supplies, personal hygiene items, baby formula, diapers and wipes, adult briefs, mobility aids, towels, sheets, blankets, hand and feet warmers, newly packaged undergarme­nts and socks, and trash bags. • Donations to help the people of Ukraine may be dropped off at Indian Valley Scuba in Harleysvil­le for the next month. Collected items after April 12 will be packed up and delivered to the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee in Philadelph­ia. A list of items being collected, including medical supplies, hygiene items, baby formula, diapers, linens and other items is available at UUARC.org.

• Luciw noted that the following organizati­ons also contain resources and informatio­n on ongoing relief efforts: Archeparch­y of Philadelph­ia, Razom, Revived Soldiers Ukraine, Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, Ukrainian Federation of America, and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA.
