Indians open season with win
SOUDERTON 5, QUAKERTOWN 2 >> The Indians opened their season with a win over Quakertown on Tuesday behind the singles play of Jared Archer and Boda Ekecs in a SOL crossover. Archer defeated Quakertown’s Justin Kwityn, 6-1, 6-0 and Boda Ekecs won 6-2, 6-1 over Gabe Roman. Max Arkans won 6-3, 6-0 over Souderton’s Will Weiss at No. 1 singles.
CB SOUTH 6, HATBORO-HORSHAM 1 >> Katong Wong pulled out the singles win at No. 1 singles by a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 score, but it was all
South after that. The Hatters lost in straight sets in the other six flights. METHACTON 7, UPPER MERION 0 >> The Warriors didn’t drop a set in rolling to the win on Tuesday. Dylan Wen, Ethan O’Brien and Nolan Ngoran combined to lose just three games. POTTSTOWN 4, POPE JOHN PAUL II 3 >> Winning two hard-fought singles matches ultimately gave the Trojans their margin of victory over the Golden Panthers in PAC competition.
Xavier Francis Williams and James Ryder were both extended to three sets in their respective first- and third-singles contests before coming out on top. A third Pottstown entry, Meliki Jones and Austin Sundstrom, also had to go three sets before winning at second doubles.
Boys Basketball
PAC ALL-LEAGUE >> The PAC announced its all-league teams on Wednesday and it had a Methacton connection with senior Brett Byrne and senior Cole Hargrove both making first team in the Liberty Division. Norristown’s DJ Johnson was also a first-team selection. Zaki Gomez of Norristown was a second-team selection, while Methacton junior Matt Christian was also a second-teamer. Over in the Frontier, PJP II’s senior JP Baron, senior Kevin Green and senior Jaden Workman were all firstteam selections. Upper Merion senior Ty Jones also got a first-team nod.
Girls basketball
PAC ALL-LEAGUE >> The PAC announced its all-league teams and over in the Liberty Division, Methacton was well-represented with junior Cassidy Kropp and senior Nicole Timko both making the first team. In the Frontier Division, it was PJP II getting represented with senior Tess Crossan and senior Amelia Kennedy both getting the first-team nods.
