St. Luke’s UCC, 125 N. Main St., North Wales: Holy Week services include Palm Sunday, 10 a.m. worship, traditional music and distribution of the palms; Palm Sunday Organ and Harp Recital at 3 p.m., free to the public, with Aaron Patterson, organ, and Joan Steinberg, harp. Gwynedd Square Presbyterian Church, 837 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, invites the community to attend Holy Week worship services in person or online, as follows: We remember Christ’s joyous arrival in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, April 10at our 10 a.m. worship service. Palm fronds and palm crosses will be available. A celebratory brunch will be at 11a.m. in fellowship hall. We will remember the Last Supper Christ had with his Apostles on Maundy Thursday, April 14with a soup/supper at 6 p.m. followed by a service of remembrance at 7p.m. We will celebrate Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday, April 17with worship at 10 a.m. featuring song, prayer and an opportunity to make memories with friends and family members. Grace Lutheran Church, 40N. Main St., Hatfield, and Pastor Nancy M. Raabe continue midweek Lenten prayer services, “Pray for Peace,” Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. through April 6. Open to the community, they include readings from scripture and contemporary literature and sung prayers from the Lutheran and Ukrainian Orthodox traditions. Prepare for Easter by joining in the drama of Holy Week services at Grace. At noon and 7:30p.m. on April 14, traditional Maundy Thursday services will be held with footwashing and Holy Communion, concluding with the dramatic stripping of the altar. On Good Friday, services at noon and 7:30p.m. include the Procession of the Cross, the traditional bidding prayers, and the powerful Solemn Reproaches. A grand Palm Sunday procession on April 10and reading of the Passion gospel leads into this climactic week. Grace’s 10:30a.m. services on Sunday continue to be streamed live. Heidelberg United Church of Christ, 1101 Cowpath Road, Hatfield, will hold a Maundy Thursday Service, April 14, at 6:30p.m., serving the traditional soup and bread meal, followed by communion, Easter related gospel passages and hymns. St. John’s United Church of Christ, 500 W. Main St., Lansdale: Holy Week services are as follows: Palm Sunday, April 10 — United Adult Sunday School 9 a.m.; Worship Services 8and 10:15 a.m. with distribution of palms; Artist Series Concert, 4p.m., featuring Seven Last Words by Michael John Trotta, St. John’s Chancel Choir and Friends, and Special Guests. Maundy Thursday, April 14 — 7:30 pm Tenebrae with Communion. This service focuses on the events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion and concludes with the sanctuary in total darkness. Communion is shared in the midst of this service. April 14-15 — Prayer Vigil begins on Maundy Thursday at noon and will continue through noon on Good Friday. Good Friday, April 15 — The Good Friday service will take place at noon. It will be contemplative and somber in nature and will contain brief reflections and traditional Holy Week hymns. A recording of the service may be listened to on St. John’s YouTube channel later in the day. Easter Sunday, April 17— 7 a.m. Worship with Communion at White’s Road Park, egg hunt for children; 10:15 am Worship with Communion in St. John’s sanctuary. The Church of the Holy Spirit of Harleysville (Episcopal), 2871 Barndt Road at the corner of Sumneytown Pike, Upper Salford, holds inperson communion services at 8and 10:15a.m. on Sundays, with Covid protocols requiring mask wearing. The church will also continue to live-stream the 10:15 a.m. communion services on Sundays on the church website and Facebook page, Church of the Holy Spirit, Harleysville. Lenten Compline services are being provided over Zoom at 8 p.m. on Thursdays. Services are led by the Rev. Kathy Andonian, Rector, assisted by staff, parish and choir members.
