New police officers sworn in
Two new police officers were sworn into the Montgomery Township Police Department during the township’s board of supervisors meeting on Monday, May 9.
Officers Hannah Moran and Sean Orrison were both sworn in as recruit police officers with an effective hire date of May 10, according to the township.
Moran was raised in Collegeville, and is a graduate of Methacton High School and Lindenwood University in Saint Charles, Missouri, where she majored in Criminal
Justice while also playing for the Women’s Rugby team. She attended the Montgomery County Community College Municipal Police Academy, graduating in December 2021.
Orrison was raised in Upper Pottsgrove, graduating from Pottsgrove High School, then Shippensburg University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He attended the Montgomery County Community College Municipal Police Academy graduating in June 2021, where he received the Leadership Award chosen by the Director of the Academy, according to the township.
During the board of supervisors’ May 9 meeting, both new officers received their oaths from supervisors chairwoman Tanya Bamford, then their badges in front of family and friends. The two new officers will fill positions soon to be created by retirements expected in 2022, according to information provided by the police department, and the two topped a field of over 200 applications received for the positions.
