Velva Carter Stevenson, 86, formerly of Franconia Twp., PA, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at The Birches at Arbour Square in Lower Salford Twp., PA. She was the beloved wife of the late James Kenneth “Ken” Stevenson, who died in 2019.

Born in Winding Gulf, WV, to Roby and Pearl (Taylor) Dolinger, she was the adopted and dearly cherished daughter of the late Henry and Maude Stuart of Beckley, WV.

A homemaker for most of her life, she was also employed by the Lansdale Housing Authority.

Mrs. Stevenson was a member of Immanuel Leidy’s Church in Souderton where she was very active, serving on the Mission Board and assisting with the Christmas Angel shoeboxes. She also volunteere­d with the Women’s Club of Souderton, and was a former member of First Baptist Church in Lansdale. She was known as a gourmet cook to her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons: Tim Carter and Mark E. Carter, both of Schwenksvi­lle, a stepson, Jeff Stevenson and his wife Pam of Hereford, a stepdaught­er, Jennifer Sauerwald and her husband Michael of Alburtis, six grandchild­ren: Brandon, Tim, Matthew, Emily, Kimber, Adam, and two great grandsons: Oliver and Elijah. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Carter, and an infant daughter, Allison.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 10 AM in the Sadler-Suess Funeral Home, 33 N. Main St., Telford, PA 18969. Interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectvi­lle, PA. Family will receive friends from 9-10 AM prior to the service. Memorial contributi­ons will be made in her memory to Operation Christmas Child at Samaritan’s Purse, P O Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
