Carroll moves on to PCL semis

Girls basketball Archbishop Carroll 57, Neumann Goretti 41:

Archbishop Carroll rode the coattails of a career-high 33points from Army-bound senior Taylor Wilson right into the PCL semifinals on Thursday with a 57-41win over Neumann Goretti. The game was certainly not as one-sided as the final score indicates. In the fact, the teams were tied at halftime, and Carroll had a narrow 2-point lead at the end of three quarters. Carroll though had a 21-point outburst in the fourth quarter, while holding Goretti to 7. Taylor Wilson had 12 of her game total in the final frame and sister Brooke made six crucial foul shots down the stretch. Carroll will face No. 1seed LC on Tuesday at St. Joseph’s.

Boys basketball Dock 61, MaST 30:

The Pioneers won their 10th straight game, this one in the BAL semifinals on Thursday night. Dock moves into the BAL final against Church Farm. Nathan Lapp led the Pioneers with 23 points, while Hoyt Bultje added 12.

Bowling

SOL American: Chase Leckner of North Penn and Maribeth of Pennridge both captured SOL individual championsh­ips on Wednesday at Earlbowl in Earlington. There were a total of 51boys and 45girls competing. Two spots were available to earn the chance for qualifying to Regionals for both boys and girls. Leckner rolled a five-game total of 922with scores of 177-168-187-200-190, while Baker rolled a five-game total of 856with scores of 169-159181-158-189. Also competing for North Penn were Ben Tucker (12th), Tyler Caiazzo (17th), Ryan Baker (27th), Kevin Tagert (31st) and Michael Jefferis (45th). For the girls, contributi­ng were Anna Weatherwax (20th), Angela Pham (30th), Megan Loughery (36th), Ariana Della Polla (40th) and Vanessa Blissman (43rd). Ryan Little from Upper Moreland, Sarah Olszewski and Amanda Deleone from Upper Moreland were the other spots earned to go to regionals, which will be held March 3rd at Leisure Lanes and Dutch Lanes.
