Carroll takes 3rd place in District 12

Girls basketball Archbishop Carroll 64, Northeast 14:

Carroll easily took down third place in a District 12-6A playoff with a convincing 64-14defeat of Northeast HS on Tuesday night. 11 different Carroll players scored in the game. Brooke Wilson and Bridget Archibald led the way for Carroll with 12and 9 points respective­ly. Carroll now advances to the first round of the state Class 6A playoffs against the 5th place finisher of District 1.

Bishop Shanahan 36, Gwynedd Mercy Academy 26:

The Monarchs settled for fourth place after the defeat on Tuesday in District 1-5A play. Emilia Coleman led GMA with seven points, while Bailey Balkir and Hannah Griffin each scored 6.

Boys basketball CB East 61, Garnet Valley 51:

Kyle Berndt hit six 3-pointers in the first half as the Patriots coasted to the District 1-6A playback victory on Tuesday night. With the win CB East will play for fifth place at home against Upper Darby on Friday night. Jacob Cummiskey added 17points, 5rebounds and 4 assists, while Tyler Dandrea added 12points, 5rebounds and 3assists for East.

Alumni report

• DeSales’ senior Megan Bealer (Souderton) was named the MAC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Year. She was also a first-team selection, alongwith teammate junior Mikaela Reese (Souderton).

• Angel City FC inked Mac Pluck (Germantown Academy) to a one-year deal. Pluck joined the club as a training cam invitee after finishing her career at Duke as a grad student this fall. Angel City FC and Pluck will face the Washington Spirt twice this season, May 13th in Los Angeles and June 10in Washington DC. The Spirit have Maddie Elwell (Wissahicko­n) and Marissa Sheva (Pennridge) on the roster.
