More than $1.75 million was authorized Thursday in a series of contracts brought before Montgomery County Commissioners.

Noting an absence from Vice Chairwoman Jamila Winder during Thursday’s board meeting, Chairman Ken Lawrence Jr. and Commissioner Joe Gale agreed to pass the package detailing 13 agreements that would provide services to several county agencies. The combination of awards and amendments were related to the recovery office, purchasing, security, as well as assets and infrastructure, health and human services, as well as information and technology solutions.

Of note, a $500,000 agreement with Metropolitan Food Inc., dba Driscoll Foods, of Wayne, New Jersey, was revised to aid the Montco Anti-Hunger Network’s purchasing of food for partnering food pantries. The contact cites “increased need, rising food costs and changes to food benefit programs, in which the county is supporting food inventory at local pantries.”

A $270,575 agreement with Education Data Systems, Inc., of Dearborn, Michigan, covered compensation model study services for the Montgomery County Recovery Office.

Seven firms responded to

the previously advertised request for proposals, and the recovery office endorsed the Michigan-based company.

Another $243,710 was required for the county’s information and technology solutions department to to add “cabling for inside and outside service and UXI sensors for the Wi-Fi replacement project.” The total figure now stands at roughly $1.63 million.

Additionally, Traffic Planning and Design Inc., of Pottstown, was awarded another roughly $205,587 related to the ongoing engineering and design services for the replacement of the Keim Street bridge. The bridge stretches over the Schuylkill River from Pottstown Borough to North Coventry Township, Chester County,” according to the contract.

Specifically, the contract stipulates the funds were needed for “additional coordination to obtain the necessary utility clearances for the multiple utilities attaching to the structure (PECO Gas, North Coventry Water, PECO Electric, Comcast and Crown Castle) and engineering for updated standards and the comments received from the PennDOT District office.”

The revised contract now stands at nearly $3 million.

The next Montgomery County Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. on March 16 on the eighth floor of One Montgomery Plaza, 425 Swede St., in Norristown. Those interested in attending the meeting can also do so virtually. Visit montcopa. org for more information.
