The TriCounty Area Chamber of Commerce honored Berks County Commissioner Christian Leinbach, Boyertown alumni and four Boyertown area nonprofits during the 2023 Annual Boyertown Area Progress Dinner on Thursday, March 2.

Held at La Massaria at Bella Vista Golf Course in Gilbertsville, the 160 local businessmen and businesswomen, school administrators and community leaders in attendance enjoyed a networking social hour and dinner. Boyertown Area School District’s Flute Choir, led by choir director Krista Gallagher, also performed during the dinner.

During the main program, TriCounty Area Chamber President Eileen Dautrich presented the James K. Boyer Quality of Life Award to Berks County Commissioner Christian Leinbach for his outstanding contributions to the community.

Recognized for his efforts to advocate on behalf of and in support of the Boyertown community, Leinbach was honored for his recent efforts including connecting the Boyertown community with much needed vaccines at the start of the pandemic; assisting the Borough of Boyertown in its negotiations with Delaware Valley Solid Waste Authority, and his efforts to support the Colebrookdale Railroad and its continued growth.

Dautrich also recognized the Boyertown Area School District alumni in attendance who have stayed within Boyertown area local businesses and the school district. Each person stood to introduce themselves, state the company they are now involved in, and the year of their graduation from BASD.

Four Boyertown area nonprofit chamber members were recognized in TriCounty Area Chamber’s 2023 Progress Dinner video created by telecommunications teacher Bill Cherkasky and his students at the Boyertown Area Senior High School.

The four new faces of Boyertown featured were Denise Pulgino Stout of the Boyertown Community Library, Ellen Martignetti of Building a Better Boyertown, Jocelyn Charles of Boyertown Area Multi Service, Inc., and Amy Muzopappa of the Foundation for Boyertown Education. The video, an adapted version of “The Wizard of Oz” story, had Dorothy and friends visit Boyertown area non-profits to learn about the progress of the town in the students’ version titled “The Wizard of Progress.”

Event platinum sponsors were Community Health & Dental Care and Tompkins; gold sponsors were The Body-Borneman Companies and Diamond Credit Union; and the silver sponsors were Bally Block Company, Fleetwood Bank, Global Advanced Metals, Herb Real Estate Inc., JL Architects; Marathon Capital Advisors, and Superior Credit Union.
