Pennridge rallies past Upper Dublin in opener

Girls lacrosse Pennridge 11, Upper Dublin 4:

The Rams dominated the second half and picked up the win on Friday in a season-opener for both squads. Grace Rosica, Kendell Posey, Leah Versepy and Ava Fantasky all scored two goals for the Rams, while Kate Unzicker, Taylor Burkett and Aubrey Bailey also scored. Kelly Senior tallied two goals, while Anna DiMartile and Paige Dinkel also scored for Upper Dublin. Anna Biermass made seven saves in nets for the Cardinals.

Wissahicko­n 16, CB East 7:

Emma Greenberg scored three goals and added one assist as the Trojans opened the season with a victory on Friday. Nora Ryan added two goals and one assist, while Giana Maiale and Alexis McCabe also added three goals. Sophia Stehlik also scored two goals for Wiss. Ava Fell made nine saves for Wiss.

Abington 13, CB South 7:

Katie Pennekamp scored seven goals and added one assist as the Ghosts won their opener on Friday. Audrey Silverman added three goals and two assists, while Haley Hamsher also scored two goals. Charlotte Lowery also scored for Abington, while Jadyn Baby had 11saves.

Softball

Upper Dublin 6, Dock 2: Upper Dublin pitcher Kyla Garrison recorded her first varsity start and captured the win with 12 strikeouts, allowing just three hits. Senior shortstop Kaelin Penna led the charge for the Cards, going 3-for-4at the plate with two runs scored, had two stolen bases and an RBI double. Soph catcher Madden Reilly was 2-for-4with two doubles and also threw out two runners stealing defensivel­y. Anna Levin was a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI singles and Garrison added a single and two RBIs. Addison Landis had two hits for Dock. Boyertown 1, PW 0: Molly Moore was brilliant in defeat for the Colonials, only allowing two hits. Rian Reed had two hits, including a double to lead off the 7th inning for PW. Moore also had a hit as did freshman Joslyn Perez. Ella Hurter was dominant for Boyertown, allowing four hits and no runs, while striking out 10.

Baseball

Pope John Paul II 12, Lansdale Catholic 6: The Golden Panthers broke the game open with a sixrun sixth inning and coasted to the nonconfere­nce win on Friday. The Golden Panthers finished with 13hits as Frank Dimaio, Noah Brandt and Brendan Kenning all had multihit games. Brandt also hit a home run for PJP II. Geno Bianco and Mike Monaghan doubled for LC.

Boys lacrosse

Shipley School 12, LC 3: The Crusaders fell behind 6-1after one quarter and never recovered on Friday in a nonconfere­nce affair. Jack Kennedy made seven saves in net for LC, while Caleb Moister, Dan Curran and Evan Milligan scored goals. Sean McMahon had two assists for LC.

Upper Merion 17, Great Valley 6:

The Vikings went on a 10-2 second-half run and coasted to the victory on Friday in their season-opener. Andrew Haney led Upper Merion with four goals, while Lincoln Jones and Collin McCormick also scored goals. Nathan Uhl made four saves in net.

Hatboro-Horsham 7, North Penn 6: The Knights lost a heartbreak­er in their seasonopen­er on Friday. Ryan Bocklet scored two goals and added one assist, while Caiden Myers added two goals and three assists for NP. Emerson Morelli also scored two goals for NP, while Connor Howard stopped 12shots in net.

Boys tennis Upper Dublin 4, CB East 3:

The Cardinals eked out another thriller on Friday in an SOL crossover match. Upper Dublin was dominant as the top of the lineup with Scott Schlackman and Tim Sheaffer both posting victories. The Cardinals then posted a three-set doubles victory with Zach Hunter/Evan Zislis winning at No. 1doubles (5-7, 7-5, 6-2).

Bowling Baker fourth at states:

Pennridge’s MariBeth Baker lost in the PIAA quarterfin­als on Friday. Baker got the No. 3seed after qualifying, posting a six-game score of 1215 (208-197-179213-203-215). However, she then lost by one pin as the No. 3 seed 190-189in the quarters to eventual champ Rayana Gonzalez of CD East. Baker ended up fourth overall.
