Two student theater performanc­es set in April

POTTSTOWN/BLUE BELL >> Montgomery County Community College’s Theatre Arts Program, Drama Club and West End Student Theatre announce two performanc­es set to grace the Montco Cultural Center stages in April — “Homefree” by Lisa Loomer and “Lost Girl” by Kimberly Belflower.

Directed by Theatre Assistant Professor Tim Gallagher, students in MCCC’s West End Student Theatre and Theatre Arts Program will present “Homefree” in North Hall 228 at the College’s Pottstown Campus, 16 E. High Street, Pottstown. Performanc­es will be held April 11-13 at 7 p.m., April 12 at 12:30 p.m. and April 14 at 2 p.m.

Free parking is available in the College’s South Hall parking lot.

“Homefree” is a dark urban fairy tale about three cast-out teens and the flip side of the American dream. Their journey is described as “crazy, funny and frightenin­g,” as they explore what is home and what their relationsh­ip means to them and each other. Note that this production contains mature content.

The cast includes Colin Hogan, Nelly Jefferson, Autumn Sherry, Dillon Diorio, Sonja Rosenwald, Jesse Raab, Mikayla Depompeo, Rhea Khilnani, Yadi Padilla, John Morgeneier and X Walker. The production and design team includes Austin T. Diachynsky, Tristan J. Herren, Janelle Jefferson, Yadiomi Padilla and Dillon J. Diorio. The crew includes Ethan Aiu, Char Crocker, Daniel O’Neill, Addison Streat and Baraka Tart.

Following “Homefree,” students in the Drama Club and MCCC’s Theatre Arts Program will present “Lost Girl,” directed by Theatre Instructor Rob Heller, in the Black Box Theatre, Science Center 107, on the Blue Bell Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell. Performanc­es will be held April 25 at 8 p.m., April 26 at 12:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., April 27 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and April 28 at 2 p.m.

Free parking is available in the Morris Road and Science Center parking lots.

“Lost Girl” is a coming-ofage experience of first love and lasting loss and continues the story of the J.M. Barrie’s beloved character, the girl who had to grow up. In the story, Wendy decides, long after returning from Neverland, that she must find Peter in order to reclaim her kiss and move on with her life.

The cast includes Tazmin Ratkowski, Xander Soboleski, Ally Cole, Maeve Brennan, Merlin Simmons, Genesys Perez-Berrios, Rhiannon Baldini, Morgan Krause, Zaki Coleman, Nicholas Decoli, Thomas Mayes and Sam Memon. The production and design team includes Sam Memon, Grayson Santino, Jarach Cox, Sarah “Kat” Morrow, Michael O’Hagann, Colin Sokol, Bre Freeman and Ava Girnius. The crew includes Davlat Asrorov, Maeve Brennan, Anthony Dimarcella, Angelita Gonzalez-Devinney, Mahedi Hassan, Ryan Hinderlite­r, Thomas Mayes, Nora Redmond, Nate Root, Tori Scurry, Analycia Smith and Steele Stevens.

“The students have been pouring their energy and creativity into rehearsing for these production­s,” said Gallagher. “They are eager to share their hard work with their peers and community members, inviting them to become fully immersed in the intriguing shows. We hope the audience will not only enjoy the experience but also be moved by the talent and dedication of our students.”

The student performanc­es are part of MCCC’s newly launched Montco Cultural Center, the platform for the College’s arts and cultural programmin­g and venues, including the newly renovated, 563-seat theater in Blue Bell, the Black Box Theatre, North Hall theater, and the fine arts galleries at both campuses.
