Police, community help family in need

- The Reporter

Vacaville police, together with the community, helped make a family’s life a little easier Tuesday night.

Around 10 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call where a rock had smashed through the rear sliding glass door of a home.

Because it was so late, the mom of four had no idea how to close the shattered door.

So the responding officer drove to Home Depot and the manager, identified only as Samantha, donated a sheet of plywood, officials said. An employee named Mike then delivered the wood to the home.

Officers put up the wood and then helped clean up the glass before leaving.

“We are so fortunate to have businesses and members that are invested in Vacaville, like Samantha, Mike and The Home Depot,” officials wrote on social media. “Without that dedication, kindness and generosity, a mother and her four children would have been without a secure home on a cold night.

“Thank you Samantha, Mike and The Home Depot! We could not have done it without you!”
