The Will C. Wood boys soccer team defeated Vanden 2-0 on Tuesday.

The Vanden High boys basketball team defeated Will C. Wood 47-45 on Tuesday night.

The Vikings trailed by seven points entering the fourth quarter but outscored the Wildcats 17-8 in the final period to take home the win.

Vanden improved to 14-6 and 2-1 in the Monticello Empire League with the win.

Wood is now 15-5 and also 2-1 in the MEL.

Boys Soccer

WILL C. WOOD 2, VANDEN 0 >> The Will C. Wood boys soccer team defeated Vanden 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Jacob Howard and Matias Muro each had goals for the Wildcats, while Tyson Dilley and Kobe Rollings each had assists.

Wood takes on Vacaville High on Thursday.

With the win, Wood is now 9-6-2 and 3-0 in the Monticello Empire LEague. Vanden is now 4-7-2 and 1-1-1 in the MEL.

Basketball Frosh boys

VACAVILLE 62, FAIRFIELD 32 >> The Vacaville High boys basketball team defeated Fairfield 62-32 on Tuesday night.

Davin Porter had 18 points in the win for the Bulldogs.

Middle school girls

VACAVILLE PENA 25, SIERRA VISTA 12 >> The Vacaville Pena girls basketball team defeated Sierra Vista 25-12 on Tuesday afternoon.

Natalia Sanchez led a balanced scoring attack with six points and six rebounds. Tianna Palmer and Lucia Alexander added five points each, with Palmer racking up six rebounds and four steals and Alexander recording six steals. Andrea Howard, Ambrea Rojas, Megan Lancaster and Natalie Gately also scored for the Panthers. Rojas and Solae Rainey grabbed four rebounds apiece. Howard also had five steals.

The Panthers are now 4-4 in league play and 5-7 overall. Vacaville Pena’s next game is scheduled for

Thursday at Vacaville Christian.

Middle school boys

VACAVILLE PENA 44, SIERRA VISTA 32 >> The Vacaville Pena boys basketball team cruised to a 44-32 victory on Tuesday afternoon.

Jayden Hamilton-Holland lead all scorers with 22 points, while Jemeir Buckner had 10 and Marcel Longmire chipped in with eight points.

Vacaville Pena’s next game is Thursday at Vacaville Christian with a 3:45 p.m. scheduled start.
