Vacaville Farmers’ Market extended thru Oct. 24, new tote bag raising funds for Downtown BID
2020 has been a challenging season for the Vacaville Farmers Market. After moving back to Creekwalk Plaza at Andrews Park in 2018, the cherished Saturday Morning market doubled in size and had plans to expand its list of local vendors for 2020. When COVID19 delayed opening day, new safety restrictions were implemented for shoppers and vendors. “The market got off to a small but mighty start,” says Downtown Vacaville BID’s Executive Director Brooke Fox, “but it has been growing weekly”. When devastating wildfires swept through Solano County last month, two vendors suffered devastating loss of property and crops while others physically fought off fire and sustained smoke damage to their fields.
During these challenging and often isolating times, the market has served as a vital connection to our community and local businesses. That’s one of the reasons why the Downtown Vacaville Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with the City of Vacaville and Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association will be extending the season two additional weeks to include October 17th and 24th.
To commemorate the market and raise funds for the Downtown BID, a special edition Farmers’ Market Tote Bag was commissioned featuring Richard Rico’s iconic “Market Day” art print. The extra large 100% canvas tote holds all your fresh fruit & veggies, shows Vacaville pride and makes a perfect, unique gift for friends & family. Bags are now on sale at the market for $20 and online for $25 (plus shipping) at DowntownVacaville.com. Proceeds benefit the Downtown Vacaville BID, a 501(c)6 nonprofit representing 600+ businesses working to build an economically vibrant Downtown Vacaville. Big thanks to project sponsors: Cloth Carousel, KMG Mortgage, La Borgata Italian Deli, Merriment on Main. Plata Realty Group, Primo’s Barbershop, Realty ONE Group Fox, Reynolds Law, School of Rock, TJ’s Tavern and Vibe Salon.
The market runs from 8AM-12PM through October 24th. Admission is FREE with free street parking available on East Main St. and at the George E. Duke Parking Lot. The outdoor market features handwashing stations and added space between booths. Face masks are required for shoppers and vendors and no food sampling or live music is allowed. Shoppers are asked to enter the market via the Main and Davis Street bridge and exit via School Street. Dogs on leashes are allowed in the park but will not be permitted in the market.
