Vanden High girls tennis unbeaten at halfway point

In a home match for the Vanden High girls tennis team against Fairfield on Monday, the Vikings won all their matches in straight sets to win 9-0 and improve to 5-0 in Monticello Empire League play at the halfway point in the season.

Sasha Smith won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles. Maya Khanna won at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1. No. 3 singles went to Delaney Ramsell, 6-0, 6-0. Jasmine Yabut took No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Paige VanPelt won at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1, while Camille Arca took No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Maritza Garcia-Jeanelle Delacruz won No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 6-1, and Vanden won the other two doubles matches by forfeit.

Vacaville 9, Will C. Wood 0

On Monday at Wood, Vacaville upped their MEL record to 3-2 with a 9-0 victory over the Wildcats.

In No. 1 singles, Nia Macay won 6-1, 6-0. Katelyn

Crismon prevailed 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles. Julia Persinger won 6-3, 6-1 in No. 3 singles. No. 4 singles went to Stephanie Esquivel 6-0, 6-0. Victoria Silva got the win in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0, and Lauren Hill took No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Vacaville won all three doubles matches by forfeit.

Rodriguez 7, Armijo 2

At Rodriguez High on Monday, Rodriguez downed Armijo, 7-2.

The two Royals wins came from the Wan sisters, Faustina took No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2, and Flora won No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-2.

The Mustangs picked up wins at No. 3 singles (Riley Mark, 7-5, 6-1), No. 4 singles (Bella Connerley, 6-1, 6-1), No. 5 singles (Emily Heber, 6-4, 6-4), and No. 6 singles (Hannah Pierleoni, 6-0, 6-3.)

Rodriguez swept the three doubles matches. Jacki Laffey-Kayla Lee won 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1 doubles. Daniel Murphy-Julianna Roxas won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 doubles, and Shayla Prasad-Madie Rote took No. 3 doubles, 6-4, 6-4.
