CHILDREN GREET THE EASTER BUNNY
Wreathed in smiles and with a hippity in their hop, pets and people bounded over to Western Ranch & Pet Supply in Vacaville Saturday to meet with a special visitor — the Easter Bunny.
A steady stream of fans flowed from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to the Aegean Way hotspot, some providing hugs and others offering snuggles. From an adorable goose to cherubic infants, to doggies and human families, everyone got multiple photographs with the iconic, lifesized bunny.
Meanwhile, an abundance of cuteness also awaited inside the business.
Three metal tubs of chicks clustered around heat sources beckoned, the little balls of fluff ranging in age and size, type and color. They communicated with clucks, chattering with one another and the youths who peeped in with curiosity.
As well, rescue bunnies were on display. Batting long eyelashes and beckoning with soulful eyes, the cashmere-soft, pint-sized bundles of fur — all up for adoption — sought forever homes.
With Easter literally a hop and skip and day away, there was a little bit of seasonal joy for everyone.
Just ask Kaylee Bukovics, 4, of Vacaville who ran over to the Easter Bunny and enveloped him in a hug.
Her parents, Andrew and Laura, excitedly photographed the moment.
It was the first meeting between little girl and giant rabbit, they said, making for a wonderful memory.
Olivia Figueroa, 2, of Suisun City was a bit more sedate during her visit.
More excited to be with her dad, Tyler, Olivia eventually gave the great big rabbit a smile.
“We couldn’t take pictures last year because of the pandemic,” Tyler explained, so when the opportunity popped up Saturday, he rushed over with Olivia. She did really well, he added, as in previous photo opportunities, “she wasn’t having it.”
Lisa Armstrong, manager at Western Ranch, said they were simply happy to spread a little happiness during a time of uncertainty.
“It’s nice to see people out and happy,” she shared. “This was amazing to get to do this again.”
