With the gubernatorial recall election set for Sept.14, the Solano County Registrar of Voters announced Friday that it is preparing to send out voting materials.

“Having the date set for the election puts many things in motion for our office, including preparing to mail voting materials to more than 264,000 registered voters in Solano County,” said Tim Flanagan, Solano County Chief Information Officer and Registrar of Voters in a press statement. “Our goal is to provide voting opportunities that are familiar to all voters and similar to past elections.”

All Solano County registered voters will be mailed a ballot starting Aug. 9. Voters may return their ballot by mail, at 16 drop-off locations throughout the county or in-person on Election Day at approximately 100 polling places.

Recall ballots have two parts. In the first part, voters may vote “yes” or “no” to the question of whether to remove the governor from office. In the second part, voters may select a replacement candidate.

It is important to note that votes for a successor candidate would only be counted if more than 50 percent of voters casting ballots in the recall election vote to recall the governor.

Anyone wishing to be on the ballot as a replacement candidate can pick up forms to file signatures in lieu of the filing fee at the Registrar of Voters Office, at 675 Texas St., Suite 2600 in Fairfield. Nomination documents will be available starting July 9.

Additional key election dates include:

• Aug. 9 — Ballots and Voter Guides start being mailed to voters

• Aug. 16 — Early In-person voting begins / ballot dropoff sites are available

• Aug. 30 — Last day to register to vote for the election

• Sept. 14 — Election Day The Registrar will have extended office hours to include today and July 10 from 8 a.m. to noon to provide additional options for voters wishing to file candidate forms, and Sept. 11 to provide additional voting days to voters.
