Wood High girls volleyball team beats Armijo High in MEL play

The Will C. Wood High girls volleyball team beat Armijo 20-25, 25-12, 25-21 and 25-13 Tuesday night in Monticello Empire League play.

Kennedy Morgan led the Wildcats in assists and aces with 16 assists and seven, respective­ly.

Maddy Moorehead led the offense tonight with 11 kills. Hannah Del Rio had six blocks and Taylor Ford added four more. Julia Meek led the defense with 26 digs.

Wood (6-9, 6-5) is at Rodriguez on Thursday.

The Vanden High School girls golf team beat Will C. Wood 251-346 on Tuesday in a MEL match at Cypress Golf Club.

Fatum Soumahoro was the medalist on the day with a 43 for the Vikings. Zoe Zanassi carded a 49, Diana Borchert a 50, Maggie Taylor a 50 and Kara Chung a 57.

Kaydence Baptista had a 65 to lead the Wildcats. Kylee Hawkins shot a 67 and Kaylee Hawkins a 70. RODRIGUEZ 206, VACA 257 >>

The Rodriguez High girls golf team beat Vacaville 206-257 on Tuesday in a Monticello Empire League match.

Darla Mae Dela Torre fired a 33 to lead the Mustangs and was the medalist for the afternoon. Erica Villegas carded a 36, Nikki Chindavong a 39, Noelle Concepcion a 47 and Destiny Rose Mendiola a 49.

Kelsey Hobbs led Vacaville with a 44, and Brooke Williams had a 46. Raquel McGrath shot a 52, Alana Castillo a 55 and Rossie Gonzalez a 61.

Women’s Soccer

SOLANO 6, CONTRA COSTA 2

The Solano College women’s soccer team beat visiting Contra Costa 6-2 on Tuesday in Bay Valley Conference play.

The Falcons (4-5, 3-1) scored three times in each half.

Dakota Marin had two goals and one assist and Shane-Nicole Sheppard had two goals. Amber Morales and Kayla Herman both had a goal and two assists. Savannah Crews had one assist.

Fatima Guzman, Bailey Erbland and Jessica Biasotti all shared time in goal for Solano, which hosts Yuba on Friday.
