Crews battle fire that destroys roofing company
Suisun City fire investigators are searching for the cause of an early Sunday morning fire that destroyed a roofing company building in Suisun City.
Dispatchers received a 6:58 a.m. report of a fire at the Affordable Roofing firm’s building in the area of Cordelia Road and West Street, in the 90 block of Cordelia.
Besides Suisun City, crews from Vacaville and Fairfield responded to the scene, and the Montezuma Fire Protection District provided station coverage, said Suisun City Acting Fire Chief Greg Renucci.
When the first crew arrived “the building was fully involved,” and firefighters began a “defensive fire attack,” meaning they stayed outside the building, and the blaze was brought under control within an hour, he said. No one was injured.
However, the Suisun City crew engaged in “extensive mop-up” and stayed on site until noon, said Renucci.
In all, four engines and one ladder truck arrived on the scene, and 17 firefighters battled the flames. Suisun City police officers provided traffic control and are also aiding in the investigation, he added.
The fire remains under investigation, and anyone who may have information about the fire is urged to call the Suisun City Fire Department, 707-421-7205, or the Suisun City Police Department, 707-421-7373.
