Vaca de Mayo returning to for 2nd year
After a successful inaugural event last year, Vaca de Mayo will be returning to Town Square with music, food, and festivities on May 7.
Hosted by the Downtown Vacaville Business Improvement District and Los Reyes Restaurante y Cantina, the event is a way for people to enjoy cold drinks and traditional food favorites in downtown Vacaville's main center of activity.
“This is a terrific way to kick off the summer season of events and celebrations in Downtown Vacaville,” Maria Alemany, interim executive director of the DVBID,
said in a statement. “Partnering with one of our established restaurants helps showcase just some of the wonderful things happening downtown.”
Foods and drinks will include tacos, shrimp ceviche, elote, fruit-flavored margaritas, and watermelon paloma. A T-shirt commemorating the event will be available for $20, DJ Rene will be spinning music in the plaza and local grower and frequent Vacaville Farmers' Market vendor Midsummer Flowers will be selling flowers for those looking to bring home some flowers or have last-minute Mother's Day shopping to do.
“We just want to have the community come together and have a good time,” said Jyka Bacud, general manager of Los Reyes, said in a statement. “We had such a great turnout last year, and it was a great feeling to see everyone coming together.”
Other partners include the Addiego family, Visit Vacaville, and the Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Vaca de Mayo will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 7 at Town Square, 21 Town Square Place. Parking is located on Dobbins Street outside of the library. For more information, go to Downtownvacaville.com.
