Vacaville Christian boys basketball still undefeated with win over Golden Sierra

The Vacaville Christian boys basketball team remained undefeated in league play as the Falcons defeated Golden Sierra 7147 on Friday night.

Leading the way for the Falcons was Brian Laxamana with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Landen Graves had 14 points and two assists, while Garrett Kuch had 14 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Dominique Ruff had four rebounds, while Aaron Laxamana and Thomas Lane each had four steals.

The Falcons improved to 17-3 and 7-0 in the Sierra Delta League with the win.

Girls Basketball Vacaville 52, Fairfield 43

The Vacaville High girls basketball team defeated Fairfield 52-43 on Friday.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Brynlie Headrick, who scored 39 points.

Callie Headrick and Rylie Johnson each had four points in the Bulldogs' win.

Boys Soccer Vacaville 9, Fairfield 1

The Vacaville High boys soccer team defeated Fairfield 9-1 on Thursday.

Nathan Beltran and Alex Verdugo each had three goals in the contest. Oscar Rangel, Sammy Arevalo and Dylan Gonzalez also scored for the Bulldogs.

“The boys came out moving the ball, things open up when you move the ball,” Vacaville head coach Tony Bussard said. “They finished their chances and I was able to rest a few of the boys who are banged up. Junior Micah Navarro was back in action after being out the entire season.”

Baseball Solano loses doublehead­er

The Solano College baseball team dropped a doublehead­er to host Butte in the 2023 season opener on Friday, losing 3-2 and 8-5.

In the opener, the Falcons (0-2) got a strong start from Miles Phillips, who went five innings and allowed just one hit and no runs. He did not figure in the decision.

Miles Meadows had two doubles and two runs scored to lead the offense. Kevin Parker had a sacrifice fly to tie the game 2-2 in the ninth before Butte had the walkoff in the bottom of the ninth.

Meadows had two more doubles in the nightcap. Connor Ross and Ryan Mitchell both knocked in two. Victor Vega and Mitchell also had doubles.

Women's Basketball Solano 54, Marin 38

The Solano College women's basketball team defeated Marin 54-38 on Friday night on the road.

The Falcons improved to 14-9 and 8-2 in the Bay Valley Conference with the win.

Solano was led in the road win by Julia Wright, who had 13 points and four steals. Dominique Eaglin and Melody Rafan each had 10 points, while Jaslyn Woods had eight assists and seven steals.

Solano's next game is Friday at Merritt.
