Marjorie Nona Bors Vacaville, CA

-

November 28, 1917 to January 22, 2023

Marge was born to parents Earl and Vesta Samuels in Saint Helena, CA. Marge married William H. Bors in 1937 and they had three children - William Earl, Bonnie Jo and Thomas Dale. They moved to Vacaville in 1953 where they owned and operated Globe Feed until it was destroyed by a fire. She then went on to work at American Home Foods.

She and Bill loved to fish and traveled many miles up and down the West Coast seeking out the best fishing spots. In the summer, they would include the grandchildren and teach them how to play gin rummy late into the night. They also tried to instill a love of fishing in all five grandchildren, which sadly failed, not one likes to fish. She was a wicked and competitive bridge player, played well past her 100th birthday, and her motto was “why play if you don’t win”.

Marge had spunk and was well known for not holding back her opinion and telling it like it is. She did not believe in sugar coating anything, always telling you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. She was honest and genuine to a fault but also had a very loving heart. She was happiest outdoors be it fishing, golfing or gardening. Her garden was her pride and joy and always had something blooming regardless of the time of year. She was an active member of the Garden Club and the Vacaville Saturday Club. She loved her sweets and considered ice cream to be a necessity of life with cookies and chocolates a close second.

She was preceded in death by husband William H. Bors and son William E. Bors. She is survived by daughter Bonnie Jo (Darrell) Parmenter of Herald, CA, son Thomas (Catherine) Bors of Vacaville, CA., 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2PM on Friday February 10 at Vaca Hills Chapel, 524 Elmira Rd.
