As always, Vacaville kids will have plenty of options of things to do this summer that don't involve lying around the house.

The Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a variety of camps and activities, and families will have the opportunity to not only explore these options but also register early when the annual Recreation Expo comes to Ulatis Community Center March 4.

As in past years, the expo will have a theme. Fittingly, this year's is “The Great Outdoors,” which is where a lot of campers will likely be spending their time.

During the expo, families will be able to meet camp instructors, sign up for swim lessons, get demonstrations of different programs, be entered into different drawings and even win some prizes through the “Great Outdoors” scavenger hunt.

There are many types of camps kids can sign up for.

They can build with Legos, learn coding lessons, play basketball or volleyball and more.

Families who sign up at the Expo will receive a 10% discount off any summer camps. The same discount will also be applied to those who sign up online from 5 p.m. March 4 to 7 a.m. March 6.

There is also a Pay Later Plan for customers registering for camps totaling $500 or more. Under this plan, 50% of the total amount plus any additional fees or add-on costs are due at the initial registration, while the remaining 50% must be paid on or before May 14.Those do not have the balance fully paid by May 14 will be automatically charged on whatever card they have on file on May 15. Patrons must sign the Pay Later Agreement and have at least one card on file that does not expire prior to May 15.

The Rec Expo is 8 a.m. to noon March 4 at Ulatis, 1000 Ulatis Drive. For more information, go to CityofVacaville.gov/Expo or call 469-4020.
