Two men charged in the 2017 murder of a 21-year-old Suisun City man have been found guilty.

On Wednesday, following a two-month trial regarding the fatal shooting of Armani Harper-Reed, Derrick Dogan Jr., 41, of Fairfield was found guilty of second degree murder and using a gun in the commission of a crime. Alfie Broussard, 41, of Elk Grove was found guilty of robbery.

Events unfolded Nov. 3, 2017, when Harper-Reed and Dogan arranged to meet at a Chevron station at 1200 Anderson St. in Suisun.

According to a statement from the Solano County District Attorney's Office, Dogan was setting up marijuana buy for Broussard.

At 9:35 p.m., HarperReed was driven to the meet by his girlfriend and the defendants parked alongside. Dogan entered the seat behind the victim, the DA's Office said, and asked Broussard “if he wanted to see it.”

Broussard entered the vehicle, Harper-Reed handed him marijuana and reportedly changed its cost. Broussard responded with: “You know what time it is” and the three men exited the vehicle. A commotion was heard and a shot was fired, striking HarperReed in his upper back, killing him.

Harper-Reed was said to be unarmed.

Dogan remains in custody without bail and is scheduled to be sentenced on April 10.

Broussard also remains in custody without bail and is scheduled to be sentenced on March 16.

Former Suisun City Police Department Det. James Sousa investigated the case. The case was tried by Senior Deputy District Attorney Mary Nguyen. Victim Witness Advocate Cynthia Malloy provided victim advocacy and support to the victims' family.
