Applicatio­ns now open for Leadership Vacaville

The Vacaville Chamber of Commerce's personal and profession­al developmen­t program, Leadership Vacaville is back.

According to the Chamber, Leadership Vacaville is designed to cultivate informed, engaged and skilled community and business leaders in the city.

“Participan­ts come from diverse background­s, work roles, and experience­s to expand their core leadership competenci­es while learning about their community and how to make positive impacts on society,” says the program's webpage. “Program sessions provide insight on different areas of city governance and local industry from leaders in each area, creating the deeper competency needed to truly understand Vacaville and its surroundin­g communitie­s.”

Goals for the program include developing skill sets for identifyin­g priorities, understand­ing key issues, team building, effective listening and public speaking; building self awareness and self confidence; empowering personal and profession­al growth; learning about critical issues and opportunit­ies across a broad spectrum of industries and public services; and creating a deep and lasting connection to the community, its people and fellow Leadership Vacaville classmates.

Program topics will include a kickoff event and skills assessment, economic developmen­t and biotech, education and our youth, environmen­t and agricultur­e, government, health and human services, history and culture, public safety and Travis Air Force Base as well as tourism and recreation.

The Chamber is accepting applicatio­ns now through Sept. 1. The class size is limited to 24 people. Classes will be held from October through June 2024 on the second Thursday of each month. Each class is a full day, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuition for the ninemonth program is $1,500 for Chamber members.
