The Republican Herald - - COMMENTARY -

It’s hard to believe that the people from Tamaqua would stand up for that man. The town should be embarrassed.

Cressona I am assuming you mean the president of the school board. He considers himself innocent of all charges, but his victims claim he’s guilty. Apparently, he isn’t embarrassed and has no remorse?

• Congratulations are in for Jeff Zucker, the head of CNN, for his accomplishment of making CNN the top fake news network, not only nationally, but internationally as well. That was quite a task.

• To all the county commissioners: I read Schuylkill County is receiving $6.7 million for fixing bridges and roadways. Are you going to reimburse for every car registration? I will wait for my rebate check.

I hope you don’t hold your breath, but with the $6.7M and the measly five bucks per registration, we should see some smooth driving this fall. And if not, shame on the commissioners.

• I have a question for you left-wing gun control advocates. You want to raise the minimum age to 21 across the nation like Florida did. My question to you is, what do you tell an 18-year-old who is serving in the armed forces? When they come home and want to buy a hunting rifle, are you going to tell them they are not old enough or qualified? Are you kidding me? These school tragedies are avoidable. We have laws on the books that aren’t being enforced.

Shenandoah Sensible background checks and better family and friends’ input. If you can vote and die on a foreign battlefield, you should be able to purchase a gun. It’s not the age, it’s the mental condition.

• To Cressona: What do Pottsville, Williamsport and Wilson have in common? They made no impact in the state playoffs. Let’s call it like it is. Pottsville was ousted early from the state playoffs as usual, but every year they dominate the Schuylkill League. I have no ax to grind, I’m just telling it like it is.
