tri-Valley League cancels playoffs in baseball, softball

ELIZABETHVILLE — Due to Wednesday’s rainfall and the forecast for the next couple of days, the Tri-Valley League decided Wednesday to cancel its baseball and softball playoffs.

Instead, the TVL will declare co-champions in both sports, with Upper Dauphin and Susquenita sharing the baseball crown and Upper Dauphin and Greenwood being co-champs in softball.

The TVL originally had its semifinals in both sports set for Tuesday, but all four games were postponed by severe storms. The semifinals were then moved to Wednesday, with the finals slated for today, before the league opted to cancel.

In baseball, Upper Dauphin (14-3) won the East Division with an 11-0 league mark, while Susquenita (14-6) won the West Division with a 10-2 record. Upper Dauphin was to face Halifax and Susquenita was slated to play Newport in the league semifinals.

In softball, Upper Dauphin (11-8) won the East Division with an 8-3 league record, while Greenwood (15-3) was the West Division champ with an 11-1 mark. Upper Dauphin was to play Newport and Greenwood was scheduled to play Halifax in the league semifinals.
