Kevin B. Knott, 56, of Somerset, formerly of Ringtown, passed peacefully on Nov. 7, at home after a long battle with cancer.
Born May 7, 1962, in Ashland, he is a son of the late Alfred Jr. and Edith Thompson Knott.
Kevin was a 1980 graduate of North Schuylkill High School. He was a veteran of the Army. He was a retired corrections officer with the rank of Sgt. from SCI/ Somerset and SCI/ Coal Township. He was very active in the Boy Scouts, as a leader of Friedens Troop 152, and a unit commissioner. He was a brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow. Kevin was a member of the Somerset Lodge 358 of the F& AM, the Stoystown American Legion Post 257, the Quemahoning Rod and Gun Club and the Laurel Ridge Sportsmen’s Club. He was an NRA member and instructor, and a leader of the Steaks and Chops 4- H Club as well as a county 4- H rifle instructor.
He is also preceded in death by his brother, Kyle Knott.
Kevin is survived by his wife and best friend of 25 years, Tina Lohr Knott; children, Zachary, Jacob, Carlie, and Rachel Knott, all of Somerset; brother, Keith Knott and wife, Debbie, Lost Creek; nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from noon until 4 p. m. Monday at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, 1845 N. Center Ave, Somerset, with a service to follow immediately at 4 p. m. with Pastor Tony Myers officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard.
