Kevin B. Knott, 56, of Som­er­set, for­merly of Ring­town, passed peace­fully on Nov. 7, at home af­ter a long bat­tle with cancer.

Born May 7, 1962, in Ash­land, he is a son of the late Al­fred Jr. and Edith Thomp­son Knott.

Kevin was a 1980 grad­u­ate of North Schuylkill High School. He was a vet­eran of the Army. He was a re­tired cor­rec­tions of­fi­cer with the rank of Sgt. from SCI/ Som­er­set and SCI/ Coal Town­ship. He was very ac­tive in the Boy Scouts, as a leader of Friedens Troop 152, and a unit com­mis­sioner. He was a broth­er­hood mem­ber of the Or­der of the Ar­row. Kevin was a mem­ber of the Som­er­set Lodge 358 of the F& AM, the Stoys­town Amer­i­can Le­gion Post 257, the Quema­hon­ing Rod and Gun Club and the Lau­rel Ridge Sports­men’s Club. He was an NRA mem­ber and in­struc­tor, and a leader of the Steaks and Chops 4- H Club as well as a county 4- H ri­fle in­struc­tor.

He is also pre­ceded in death by his brother, Kyle Knott.

Kevin is sur­vived by his wife and best friend of 25 years, Tina Lohr Knott; chil­dren, Zachary, Ja­cob, Car­lie, and Rachel Knott, all of Som­er­set; brother, Keith Knott and wife, Deb­bie, Lost Creek; nieces and neph­ews.

Friends will be re­ceived from noon un­til 4 p. m. Mon­day at St. Paul’s Pres­by­te­rian Church, 1845 N. Cen­ter Ave, Som­er­set, with a ser­vice to fol­low im­me­di­ately at 4 p. m. with Pas­tor Tony My­ers of­fi­ci­at­ing. Mil­i­tary honors will be ac­corded by the Som­er­set County Honor Guard.
