James R. “Jim” Gal­lagher, 76, went to be with his Lord and Sav­ior on Sept. 26, 2018, in San Antonio, Texas.

Jim was born Dec. 7, 1941, to James and Sally Gal­lagher. He was raised in Cen­tralia, in the heart of the coal re­gion and met the love of his life, Dar­lene, his se­nior year at Ash­land High School.

He re­ceived a col­lege schol­ar­ship, where he played bas­ket­ball and earned a Bach­e­lors of Sci­ence in Math from Susque­hanna Univer­sity. He earned a Masters of Sci­ence from Stevens In­sti­tute of Tech­nol­ogy in 1967.

In 1962, Jim and Dar­lene started their life to­gether and raised a beau­ti­ful fam­ily. He was a star bas­ket­ball player in school and passed that same pas­sion for sports on to his boys. He was ac­tive in his church, where he was a char­ter mem­ber. Jim was a beloved hus­band, fa­ther, grand­fa­ther, friend and men­tor.

He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents and his beloved wife of 52 years.

He is sur­vived by his sons, James R. Gal­lagher II, Jef­frey ( Laura) Gal­lagher and Kevin ( Cindy) Gal­lagher; grand­chil­dren, Sean, Evan, Me­gan, Jamie, Jack and Ryann.

The me­mo­rial ser­vice will be held at 10 a. m. Dec. 15 at Good Shep­herd Lutheran Church, Ash­land. In­ter­ment will fol­low the ser­vice.
