Armella M. Burns, 88, of Le­high­ton, passed away Thurs­day at Seton Manor, Or­wigs­burg.

She was the widow of Ray­mond A. Burns, who passed away in 2012.

Born in Weatherly, she was a daugh­ter of the late Wil­bur L. and Hannah R. Eroh Sch­nauf­fer Sr.

A 1948 grad­u­ate of Le­high­ton High School and a 1952 grad­u­ate of Kutz­town State Teach­ers Col­lege, Armella was an el­e­men­tary school teacher in the Le­high­ton Area School Dis­trict for 30 years, re­tir­ing in 1985.

She was a mem­ber of Zion United Church of Christ, Le­high­ton, and a life­time mem­ber of the Car­bon County Chap­ter of Penn­syl­va­nia As­so­ci­a­tion of School Re­tirees.

Armella was pre­ceded in death by a daugh­ter and sonin- law, Ruth Ann and Ti­mothy An­dreas; sis­ter, Dorothy Dotter; brother- in- law, Richard Burns and sis­ter- in- law, Jean Slaw­son.

Sur­viv­ing are a daugh­ter, Rae Ann, wife of Dr. Don­ald Borger, Auburn; three grand­chil­dren, Dr. Amy, wife of Ben­jamin Crouse, David An­dreas, hus­band of Shan­non and Dr. Craig Borger, hus­band of Vic­to­ria; her five great- grand­sons, Nathan and Gabriel Crouse and Owen, Evan and Grant Borger; brother, Wil­bur Sch­nauf­fer Jr.; sis­ter, San­dra Heine.

A fu­neral ser­vice will be held at 11 a. m. Wed­nes­day at Scha­ef­fer Fu­neral Home, Third and Alum streets, Le­high­ton, with the Rev. Dean Frey officiating. Com­mit­tal ser­vice to fol­low in Le­high­ton Ceme­tery. A call­ing will be held from 10 to 11 a. m. Wed­nes­day at the fu­neral home.
