LOWER MERION » Lower Merion library officials announced this week that in-person service will begin the week of July 13. Due to health concerns for both staff and the public, services will be limited. Hours will be restricted.

To make libraries as safe as possible the following limits will be in place:

Libraries will be open for browsing with a limit of 30 minutes per person.

Fewer people will be allowed in the building. This will allow for proper social distancing.

The number of computers will be reduced to comply with social distancing rules.

Computer use will be limited to 30-minute sessions by appointment only.

To help maintain social distancing not all sections of the library will be open. A large portion of the Ludington Library is closed for construction.

All visitors must wear a mask while in the library, and temperatures will be checked before users are allowed in the building.

Lounging and studying in the libraries will not be allowed; most seating has been removed.

All programs will continue online only.

No meetings will take place in libraries.

No tutoring will be allowed.

While significant efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 are being made, if anyone doesn’t feel comfortable entering the library, contactless delivery will continue.

Following guidance from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Federal library agency, LMLS will quarantine all returned books for three days. Research has shown that time is one of the best disinfectants for library items and that after 3 days the virus is undetectable.
