Lower Merion hires new assistant superintendent
LOWER MERION » Lower Merion has a new school district assistant superintendent.
This week, the Lower Merion Board of School Directors approved a motion naming Alexis McGloin as the new assistant superintendent for the school district.
McGloin will replace Scott Eveslage. Eveslage was named superintendent of the Hatboro-Horsham School District in April.
Superintendent Robert Copeland said the district went through an extensive search before selecting McGloin.
“Dr. McGloin offers our District an advantageous combination of both her depth of leadership experience and her fresh viewpoints and energy. I’m thrilled to have her joining our already stellar leadership team,” Copeland said in a statement.
A Bryn Mawr resident, McGloin lives with her husband and two children and enjoys reading and spending time relaxing at the Jersey Shore, according to a press release from the school district.
McGloin is coming to Lower Merion from the Central Bucks School District. For just over a year, she served as assistant superintendent for assessment, professional development, and educational services.
Before working in the Central Bucks School District, McGloin was superintendent of the Upper Perkiomen School District. During her time in
Upper Perkiomen, the district saw a ten percent increase in graduation rates, an increase in the number of advanced placement courses offered, implementation of additional mental health supports for students, and a major middle school renovation and reconfiguration.
McGloin has also served as an assistant superintendent and principal in the Penn Delco School District. She began her career teaching chemistry and general science in Kingston, Pa.
McGloin earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education, Educational Administration and Supervision from East Stroudsburg University and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Temple University.
“Thank you very much for the opportunity,” McGloin said after the unanimous board vote. “I’m very excited to join the administrate team.”
The contract for McGloin that was approved by the board this week runs from Sept. 1, 2020, through June 30, 2024. In the first year of the contract, she will earn $190,000 prorated with a two percent increase each of the following years.
“I am honored to be provided this tremendous opportunity to work with the students, staff, administration and community in Lower Merion. The district has an outstanding reputation and I am excited to become a part of the administrative team,” she said in a statement that was released by the district this week.
