IHM Christmas bazaar brings in much-needed revenue
If there was one indicator that the Annual IHM Christmas Bazaar was a huge success, it was that many attendees had to resort to street parking. The large IHM parking lot was so full, that there was nary a spot to hitch one’s horse. Not only was Father Sullivan Hall packed to the gills with raffle tables, games of chance, baked goodies, and activities for the kids, but the hallways in the school were teeming with activity as well from 25 vendor tables overflowing with artistic handiwork, jewelry, candles, and pretty much everything under the sun that was holiday related.
Oh, did I not mention Santa? Santa’s lap had to be worn out with the steady stream of families with youngsters over several hours wishing to take advantage of a photo op for a nominal fee.
Key to the success of the event, which was virtual in 2020 and somewhat subdued in 2021, was most assuredly the organizational networking of dedicated volunteers that manned the raffle and games tables, facilitated arts and crafts, brought in and sold baked goods, and served behind the concession area. The backbone of the logistical operation fell on the shoulders of Home & School President Jeff Fakette and his bazaar chairs Alison Ritchie and Angel Buzby. From any angle, they passed with flying colors. The bazaar reaped in more than the intended goal of $18,000..
A huge shout out has to go to the local businesses and sponsors for their generous donations of desirable goods that help spawn the lucrative raffle sales. Some of the key contributors included Petals Lane Inc., Fitzpatrick DeSilva Construction, AmeriKick Andorra,, and Big Dawg’s Plumbing and Heating.
IHM Principal Patrick Foley and Director of Finance, Development, and Admissions, Traci Kovach, were tickled pink about the huge influx of revenue into the school’s till, which will bolster the school’s operating budget to supply improved instruction in the classroom and building improvements.
