Two dead in mur­der-sui­cide

MANAYUNK » A young girl and her fa­ther are dead af­ter an ap­par­ent mur­der-sui­cide in a Mana-yunk home.

Po­lice re­sponded to a res­i­dence on the 4500 block of Wilde Street in Manayunk at 10:55 a.m. Mon­day morn­ing to find a 7-yearold girl in the liv­ing room and a 45-year-old­man in a sec­ond-floor rear bed­room, ac­cord­ing to Philadelphia po­lice. Both were pro- nounced dead at the scene.

Pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­ti­ga­tion at the scene pointed to the in­ci­dent be­ing a mur­der-sui­cide, with the man killing the girl be­fore tak­ing his own life, ac­cord­ing to po­lice.

The pair was found by the girl’s step­fa­ther, ac­cord­ing to po­lice.

The de­ceased have been iden­ti­fied as Kay­den Man­cuso and her fa­ther, Jeff Man­cuso, ac­cord­ing to var­i­ous me­dia re­ports.

Kay­den, 7, was set to be­gin sec­ond grade at Edge­wood El­e­men­tary School in the Penns­bury School Dis­trict.

Kay­den had been the sub­ject on an on­go­ing cus­tody dis­pute be­tween her par­ents, ac­cord­ing to me­dia re­ports. She was dropped off at her fa­ther’s home in Manayunk over the weekend, but when she was not re­turned on time, fam­ily mem­bers went to the fa­ther’s home, where they dis­cov­ered the deadly scene Mon­day morn­ing.

“Noth­ing can bring back this vi­brant, out­go­ing, lov­ing child,” a mem­ber of Kay­den’s fam­ily wrote on the Kay­den’s Korner Go Fund Me page. “Kay­den ex- celled at ev­ery ac­tiv­ity she was in­volved in. Kay­den re­cently made the Pennsville U10 soft­ball team as a 7-year-old. Kay­den ex­celled in soc­cer, gym­nas­tics and bas­ket­ball. She was taken too soon and will never have the chance to lead the life she was meant to live.”

The Go Fund Me was es­tab­lished to cover the young girl’s fu­neral ex­penses. Just 16 hours af­ter be­ing es­tab­lished Mon­day, the ac­count had well ex­ceeded its $25,000 goal, al­ready rais­ing $41,196 through do­na­tions from 706 peo­ple as of 1:30 p.m. Tues­day.
