Two dead in murder-suicide
MANAYUNK » A young girl and her father are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in a Mana-yunk home.
Police responded to a residence on the 4500 block of Wilde Street in Manayunk at 10:55 a.m. Monday morning to find a 7-yearold girl in the living room and a 45-year-oldman in a second-floor rear bedroom, according to Philadelphia police. Both were pro- nounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigation at the scene pointed to the incident being a murder-suicide, with the man killing the girl before taking his own life, according to police.
The pair was found by the girl’s stepfather, according to police.
The deceased have been identified as Kayden Mancuso and her father, Jeff Mancuso, according to various media reports.
Kayden, 7, was set to begin second grade at Edgewood Elementary School in the Pennsbury School District.
Kayden had been the subject on an ongoing custody dispute between her parents, according to media reports. She was dropped off at her father’s home in Manayunk over the weekend, but when she was not returned on time, family members went to the father’s home, where they discovered the deadly scene Monday morning.
“Nothing can bring back this vibrant, outgoing, loving child,” a member of Kayden’s family wrote on the Kayden’s Korner Go Fund Me page. “Kayden ex- celled at every activity she was involved in. Kayden recently made the Pennsville U10 softball team as a 7-year-old. Kayden excelled in soccer, gymnastics and basketball. She was taken too soon and will never have the chance to lead the life she was meant to live.”
The Go Fund Me was established to cover the young girl’s funeral expenses. Just 16 hours after being established Monday, the account had well exceeded its $25,000 goal, already raising $41,196 through donations from 706 people as of 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
