Gala will celebrate the college's 95th anniversary
San Bernardino Valley College Foundation will celebrate the college’s 95 years at its Great Expectations Gala, scheduled for April 1.
The event will be held at the San Bernardino Valley College Athletics Complex, 701 S. Mount Vernon Ave., San Bernardino, and will include cocktails, dinner, live auction, music and more.
The evening’s program will focus on alumni accomplishments and will highlight “A Tale of Two Students.”
The college is accepting nominations for its distinguished alumni through Feb. 25. To make a nomination, email a 250-word bio and a head-and-shoulders portrait-style photograph to dixoncarol817@gmail. com along with contact information (email, phone and address for the nominee and email for the nominator).
To qualify for this distinction, the nominee may not be a current Valley College student, Valley College employee or previous recipient.
The event will open with a cocktail hour, and in keeping with the Dickensian “Great Expectations” theme, offerings will include drinks such as a “Scrooge” driver, “Havisham Old Fashioned” and “Dickens of a Martini with an Olive or a Twist,” according to a news release.
Live auction items will include an autographed baseball from Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani, dinner for 25 with a private chef and an 18k rose gold tourmaline and diamond ring from Emerson Fine Jewelry.
Opportunity prizes include admission for two to the Magic Castle in Los Angeles, gift certificates for local restaurants, golf, wine and more.
The dinner menu features tri-tip, chicken or a vegan stuffed portobello mushroom, and music will be provided by jazz artist and Valley College alumnus Dexter Thomas and his band.
Tickets are $125 per person or $2,000 per corporate table, which includes seating for 10 and a halfpage advertisement in the program book. Reservations are due by March 11.
