A look at today’s championship games involving Inland teams. BASEBALL

Division 5 Moreno Valley (27-3) vs. Burbank Burroughs (21-10), 4 p.m. at Cal State Fullerton

IE Varsity preview: Moreno Valley defeated Buena 4-1 in the semifinals, but the Vikings had to wait until Wednesday morning to be certain they would be playing in the championship game. Buena filed a protest, alleging Moreno Valley had engaged in illegal batting practice before the game. The CIF Southern Section ruled the player(s) involved were JV call-ups who did not play in the game and no advantage was gained. Moreno Valley has reached the final for the third time in six years, and the Vikings will be looking to win their first section championship and the school’s first in any sport since the girls basketball program claimed the Division 1A title in 1999. Frank Camarillo, who is headed to UC Santa Barbara, is expected to start on the mound for the Vikings. Camarillo has been outstanding, going 9-0with a 1.85ERA and 107strikeouts. He also leads the team with a .490 average and 38 RBIS. Moreno Valley, the division’s No. 1 seed, has six starters with a season average of .425 or higher. Luis Arias went 3 for 3in the semifinals, and Jason Avila drove in two runs. Burroughs is the No. 2 seed in the bracket, making Division 5 the only championship game to feature the two top seeds. This is the first championship appearance for the Burroughs baseball program. The Bears pitching staff has been impressive during the playoffs, allowing only four runs over four games. Pepperdine-bound Gunnar Nichols is slated to be on the mound for Burroughs today. IE Varsity’s prediction:

Moreno Valley 4, Burroughs 1
