San Bernardino mall shooting nets one arrest
A San Bernardino man who, while with his 4-year-old child, was accused of shooting and injuring a man at the Inland Center Mall was arrested Wednesday, police said.
Pablo Estrada, 23, was arrested in the 1800 block of West 30th Street at 11:44 a.m., according to San Bernardino County jail records. Estrada was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and child abuse with the possibility of great bodily injury, records indicated.
He was being held in lieu of $1 million bail, according to jail records.
On Friday, San Bernardino police responded to 500 Inland Center Drive at 1:02 p.m. regarding a shooting in the parking lot outside the mall’s food court, police said. A man was found in the parking lot with a gunshot wound, authorities said.
It was learned that Estrada and the victim got into a confrontation in the mall before the shooting, police said.
When the victim was walking out of the food court, Estrada shot “indiscriminately” at him from a car, officials said. A woman was driving the car, with the 4-year-old inside, police said.
Estrada was identified through surveillance video and statements from witnesses and the victim, authorities said.
A search warrant was executed at Estrada’s home and evidence from the shooting was found.
No identifying information for the victim was immediately available.
Police had previously said the incident was believed to be gang-related.
