Choral concerts: The Sanctuary Choir of the La Verne Church of the Brethren will present “American Songbook” 4 p.m. June 4 and 7 p.m. June 7 at the church, 2425 E St., La Verne. The concert features music by Shawn Kirchner, the church’s pianist and organist who was the Los Angeles Master Chorale’s composer in residence from 2012to 2015. Freewill donation

Writers’ group: The San Dimas Writers Group meets 1 p.m. Wednesdays at San Dimas Senior Center, 201E. Bonita Ave., San Dimas. The group is open to published writers and anyone else interested in joining a community of writers. There is no cost to join.
