Palm Springs estate tops Vrbo list of best vacation homes
If you’re looking for a sprawling desert getaway, Vrbo (vacation rentals by owner) has listed a modern nine-bedroom, nine-bathroom compound in Palm Springs among its top vacation homes for 2023.
The rental property at 282 W. Santa Catalina was the only destination in California that made Vrbo’s “2023 Vacation Homes of the Year.”
The list includes Western homes in Arizona, Idaho, Oregon and Colorado. For Cabo San Lucas fans, there’s the five-bedroom Villa Luna Nueva on the southern end of the Baja California peninsula.
The 7,000-squarefoot Oasis Estate in Palm Springs was given a top vacation distinction based on user ratings and amenities, according to Vrbo.
The house, built in 2020 on just over half an acre, has an assessed value of $1.4 million, according to property records.
The compound’s average daily rent is $2,838, according to Vrbo. The property includes a pool and hot tub, a 45-foot putting green and a vintage trailer for glamping.
A guest from Austin, Texas, who stayed in the home in May, said the “home is one of the best appointed and managed properties I’ve ever stayed in.”
Vrbo required a fournight stay as we flirted with booking the Oasis between Sept. 15-19, which includes the premium weekend rate.
The home comes with an $850 cleaning charge and a service fee of $1,134. With taxes included, the four-day stay at the compound was $15,117.75. (Divided by nine friends, that’s 1,679.75 each.)
Or resourceful friends could pool their resources and buy an enclave near Bob Hope’s famous house for $8.5 million or a historic modern home for $4
