Jim Mccoy (James Arthur)

Born in Emporia, Kansas on March 3, 1931, Jim passed peacefully on September 22, 2023 at 92 years old. He met Barbara Jean Corel in early 1951 and married on November 20, 1951. They have been married just shy of 72 years. One of 10 kids, Jim has one sister living, Barbara. Barbara and Jim have 3 children surviving Deborah, Earla and Jay. His son Diesel preceded his death.

Jim and Barbara moved to Riverside in June 1962. They were in business together for 62 years until retiring in 2016, owning 10 different businesses over that span. They were in business in Riverside for 52 years, owning most notably Mccoy & Sons Auto 1956 to 2016, Mac’s Coin Laundry 1974 to 2006 and Automotive Paint Service 1985 to 2016. They had so many different customers in Riverside and would like to thank every one of them.

Jim was a gifted automobile restorer and enjoyed making his living doing what he loved. He and Barbara traveled and did many things in life. One of their favorite pastimes was their annual January trips to Acapulco for 29 years straight, filling a 50-room hotel with family and friends.

Jim, Deisel and Jay have been involved in and love all forms of automobile racing. Driving, building, working on many kinds of racecars.

Jim enjoyed coaching little league baseball, hauling boy scouts on camping trips, history and working on his antique midget race car. His grandkids and great grandkids were his joy.

Barbara will remain in their home of 62 years and enjoys having company.

He will be laid to rest in a graveside service on October 12, 2023 at Riverside National Cemetery at 10:15 A.M. A reception will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church at 5969 Brockton Ave Riverside, CA 92506.
