District welcomes school board student representatives
Andrew Watson, a senior at Bonita High School in La Verne, Rylie Koscielski, a senior at Chaparralvista High School in San Dimas, and Beatrice See, a senior at San Dimas High School, are the 2023-24 student representatives for the Bonita Unified School District’s Board of Education.
They will serve as the voices and advocates of their peers throughout the school year, attending all regular monthly school board meetings to provide school reports and share feedback and concerns.
“We are honored to welcome these three experienced student leaders to the board and look forward to hearing their perspectives,” Matt Wien, superintendent of the Bonita Unified School District, said when the student representatives took their oath of office in October, according to a news release. “Andrew, Rylie and Beatrice have all made their mark on their respective campuses and we know they will be exemplary student board representatives.”
Watson has been involved in leadership throughout his four years of high school. He was involved in the school’s APEX honors program as a freshman, then joined the Associated Student Body his sophomore year. He was elected junior class president last year and was elected ASB president this school year. After graduation, he hopes to attend Baylor University or
Southern Methodist University and major in business, with an emphasis in economics or real estate, according to the news release.
Koscielski is the third person in her family to attend Chaparral-vista High School, following in the footsteps of her brother, a 2022 graduate, and her father, a 2002 graduate. She is an active member of the Chaparral-vista campus, participating in the Renaissance leadership class, the school’s annual cornhole tournament and more. She is also a dancer and soccer player. In the future, she hopes to work in the medical field.
See serves as San Dimas High School’s ASB president and has been involved in ASB for the past seven years. She served as a representative to the board for Lone Hill Middle School in 2019. This fall, she was selected to the San Dimas High School class of 2024’s homecoming court. She plans to attend Mt. San Antonio College, then transfer to a University of California campus and pursue a career as a registered nurse.
