Riverside Community Players to stage ‘The Gods of Comedy’ opening tonight
Riverside Community Players will present “The Gods of Comedy” by Ken Ludwig, opening 8 p.m. tonight at the theater at 4026 14th St., Riverside.
After opening night, performances are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through May 5. There is also a 2 p.m. performance on May 4.
Eric Modyman directs the
Riverside Community Players’ production of “The Gods of Comedy,” one of the more recent plays by Ludwig, who also wrote “Lend Me a Tenor,” “Moon Over Buffalo” and “A Comedy of Tenors.”
In the play, a classics professor finds a long-lost manuscript by Euripides, loses it and then calls on the ancient Greek gods of comedy to get out of the mess. The first surprise is that the gods show up.
Tickets are $18-$45, available at riversidecommunityplayers. com.
This is the fourth main stage production in Riverside Community Players’ 99th season. In addition to its main season, the theater also offers a Spotlight Series, featuring new, classic or outof-the-box productions in a readers’ theater format, and a summer youth conservatory, according to a news release.
The theater company also offers membership, which includes a season ticket, snack bar freebies and guest tickets.
Riverside Community Players is in the midst fundraising to restore the exterior of the theater building, including structural, cosmetic and fencing improvements. For information and to donate, go to riversidecommunityplayers.com.
