N. High­lands man con­victed of child porn pos­ses­sion

A North High­lands man was con­victed Thurs­day for pos­ses­sion of child pornog­ra­phy af­ter us­ing so­cial me­dia to ob­tain ex­plicit im­ages.

Wil­liam La­mar Bles­sett, 39, used the in­stant mes­sag­ing ser­vice Kik to ac­quire sex­u­ally ex­plicit im­ages of mi­nors be­tween 2016 and 2017, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease is­sued by the U.S. At­tor­ney’s Of­fice for the East­ern District of Cal­i­for­nia.

Bles­sett was ar­rested in Oc­to­ber 2017 af­ter down­load­ing im­ages via on­line links and stor­ing them in his Drop­box cloud stor­age ac­count, which he used to send the im­ages to a lap­top, two smart­phones, and two tablets, ac­cord­ing to the re­lease.

Bles­sett faces 10 to 20 years in prison along with a $250,000 fine and is sched­uled to be sen­tenced Feb. 19. He is be­ing held at the Sacra­mento County jail.
