Gary passed away peace­fully af­ter a long bat­tle with can­cer. He is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife of 52 years, Paula; his brother, David, and many nieces and neph­ews. He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents, Grace and Frank; daugh­ter, Tammy; son, Don­ald; broth­ers, Don, Ron; and his sis­ter, Sally. Gary was born in Sacra­mento, Cal­i­for­nia, grad­u­ated from Mc­Clatchy High school in 1964, and en­listed in the Marine Corp in 1966. He served in the Viet­nam War as a ma­chine gun­ner and was awarded sev­eral medals in­clud­ing a Pur­ple Heart. He at­tended col­lege af­ter the mil­i­tary then worked in the Diesel Re­pair busi­ness for many years and re­tired from Cum­mins West as a Field Ser­vice Engi­neer. Gary was a hard­work­ing, fun lov­ing man who loved his fam­ily, friends and cared about his com­mu­nity. He was a mem­ber of sev­eral ser­vice clubs, worked with the Boy Scouts, taught gun safety classes and was a vol­un­teer Park Ranger. He lived a full life en­joy­ing hunt­ing, fish­ing, 4 wheel­ing, camp­ing, golf­ing, his Labrador Retriev­ers, and his Chivas Re­gal. He will be missed by many. A cel­e­bra­tion of Gary’s life will be held at his home on Satur­day, De­cem­ber 15, 2018 be­tween 2:00 and 6:00p.m. In lieu of flow­ers please make a do­na­tion to your fa­vorite char­ity.
