Harold, 82 years old, died Novem­ber 25, 2018 from com­pli­ca­tions of a stroke on Au­gust 18, 2018. He was born in Eu­faula, Ok­la­homa but was raised in Taft, Cal­i­for­nia. He went to UCSB and UCLA earn­ing a Mas­ter of Sci­ence in Ge­ol­ogy. He was a reg­is­tered Ge­ol­o­gist and mem­ber of sev­eral pro­fes­sional or­ga­ni­za­tions. Harold be­gan his ca­reer with the State of Cal­i­for­nia at the Divi­sion of Oil & Gas, Board of Equal­iza­tion and En­ergy Com­mis­sion. In 1976 he founded Harold W. Bertholf, Inc., ge­o­log­i­cal ap­praisal com­pany, where he worked un­til his re­tire­ment. In ad­di­tion to grow­ing his suc­cess­ful busi­ness, he en­joyed spend­ing time with his fam­ily and hunt­ing. He spent many week­nights and week­ends cheer­ing on his kids and grand­kids in bas­ket­ball, base­ball and soc­cer. When he wasn’t watch­ing sports, he was usu­ally up at the North Butte Duck Club en­joy­ing a day of hunt­ing. He is sur­vived by Phyl­lis, his wife of 62 years; sons, Rus­sell Bertholf (Kim), Ran­dolph Bertholf (Nancy); daugh­ter, Heidi San­ders (Scott). Five grand­chil­dren, Jack, Wil­liam and Kate San­ders, Daniel and Ash­ley Bertholf. Two step­grand­chil­dren, Melissa Larson and Ja­son Ti­rado; and sis­ter, Jean Marie Grif­fin. There will be a Cel­e­bra­tion of Life at the Dante Club (2330 Fair Oaks Blvd., Sacra­mento, CA) on Fri­day, De­cem­ber 28, 2018 at 11:00 am.
